Valve guides as seen above - made from various copper alloys - are
used in car engines. The copper alloys we use have advantages like
good heat conductivity and improved running properties in poor
lubrication conditions due to the similarity of the material to bronze.
The alloy T-Hedul FS, for example, has twice the heat conductivity of
aluminum. It is therefore used predominantly in race- and sportscar
engines, which have to be able to withstand the high temperatures
caused by extreme engine speeds.
